Hey all! As a small-interest Relief Society group, Stephanie Welch and I (Rebecca Miller) will have the stake canner at my house May 26th at 6:30 pm. If you have any bulk food items you would like to can in the large metal cans for long-term food storage, you are welcome to come use it. We will pick up the cans from the cannery that morning, so let us know how many you need. For the can, its lid and an oxygen absorber, it is $1. If you want a plastic reusable lid it is 15 cents. Please get your money to either of us before that Thursday. If there is a lot of interest in this, we can plan another day in the future as well. Thanks!

Aight ladies,
this blog has been ignored long enough, so i shall post something to do. Apparently the M resort will let ladies over 21 and their kids under 6 into the pool for free (if you're a local). So this friday (May 6th) at about 10:30 I'm packin a lunch and headed to the pool if anyone wants to join the fun.
Let me know and we can carpool or caravan over there. They used to have free soda fountains too...let's hope that's still there!

The last playgroup for November is going to be Friday, November 19th: 10am @ Western Trails Park .

Friday December 3rd: 10 am @ the church we are going to be doing a Cookie Exchange.
Please bring your favorite cookie with enough to share and the recipe to go along with it. I will have a little craft planned for the kids.

Friday December 10th: 10am-12pm @ Michelle Bourgault's Home. Michelle and Jen are throwing us another fun party with tons of stuff to do! It is a potluck brunch so bring your favorite appetizer, dip or dessert along with a copy of the recipe. Santa will be there for family photos he will also be giving each family a gift so make sure to RSVP! There will be a huge slide, bouncy house, cookie decorating, Carmel apple making, bracelet designing, games and prizes and so much more. My dad's company is looking for someone to fill a part-time office position ASAP. They prefer a female. (we know how to multitask better ;) )
Details are:
1. Hours from Mon-Friday (most weeks, some weeks you might not have to work everyday) from approz 9-12 or 1ish.
2. My husband works in the office too, so when he goes on vacation, you can help with his work too (so more hours when we leave somewhere...which doesnt happen very offen)
3. Pay is $10 an hour. No benefits or anything.
4. Office is located right next to the airport off of Sunset and Eastern.

So if any of you are interested please let me know ASAP. They would like someone to start as soon as Monday. It would be great for those of you that have kids in school. You could drop them off and go...Some nice extra spending $!

Just wanted to send out a quick reminder of the upcoming Ward Breakfast and Easter Party on March 20th, 8am at the Wagon Wheel Park (Western Trails Park).

The Primary will provide an Easter Egg Hunt, similar to last year for those who attended.

In order for this to be successful we need your help!

If you are planning to attend we would appreciate a donation of one bag of candy per family (if you can donate more that would be greatly appreciated). We would like the candy by Sunday March 14th, so that we will have time to stuff the eggs before the Breakfast.

You can drop the candy off to a member of the Primary Presidency or at church on Sunday.

Playgroup!

Hey Ladies! I have been asked to take over the playgroup duties and I am very excited. My mind has been racing trying to figure out some fun activities that we can do over the course of the year and hopefully we will have a schedule up soon! (Any suggestions are welcome of course!) I am pretty sure that we will have playgroup at least twice a month and if we get a good turn out we can always up the frequency again. I know we have a lot of new moms in the ward and playgroup is a great way to meet and get to know each other.

Next week on Wed. the 27th we are going to go to Pump it Up. The open jump hours are 9:30-12:30 so lets meet there at 9:30 and of course you can leave when you want. 2 and under are free and 3 and up are $7.00 per kid....but if we get enough of a turnout we can buy a punch card and get in for $5.00 per kid. I will make an announcement on Sunday but please spread the word!!

Hula classes

My friend, Uila (wheela), is starting to teach Hula classes in her home. The classes will begin in February. There will be a class on Mondays from 11-11:30 for 4-5 year olds. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a toy/clothing exchange? I don't know what to call it, but my at my sisters Fabulous Friday they had a spot where people could bring their used kids clothes, baby stuff, toys, etc. that they were going to be giving to Goodwill. Then people could take something if they thought their kid could use it. I thought this might be a good way to get rid of stuff that your kids don't use but is still in good condition. If enough people had stuff and was interested we could do it at the playgroup. I know I have some clothes and stuff I would love to get rid of and would love it if someone needed it! Let me know what you think.

Some of you were asking for the recipe of what I brought to play group so I thought I would just post it on here. I don't really go off of a recipe so here is what I used for the amount I brought yesterday.

3 medium sized Avocados
3 Tomatoes
1 can of Corn
1 can of Black Beans, drained and rinsed
Zesty Italian Dressing (I just pour some on until it looks right, maybe about 1/3 cup)

I have also had it with Cilantro and onion in it and that also makes it good.

Polar Express Tickets

I have 4 Polar Express Tickets (2 Adults 2 Kids) for the train in Heber Utah. The ride starts at 5pm on December 4th, and you must arrive 30 minutes early. The kids get hot chocolate and Santa comes and I think gives each of the kids a bell. All kids 2 and younger can ride free, but must sit on the lap of a parent. The tickets are $90.00 for all 4 (I would like to sell them as a set).

Thanks to everyone who helped set-up, played, and helped cleaned up today! I couldn't have done it without you guys!!!! I just wanted to let everyone know that we are going to go to 1 playgroup a month. We haven't been having a huge turn out so we are going to go once a month. Next month is going to be a music class taught by Rachel Gubler. I will let you know the time and place soon!

Halloween Party

Hey guys! So the Halloween Party is this Wednesday the 28th at the Church starting at 11:30. Thanks to everyone for helping bring things! If you forgot what you signed up feel free to call me or leave a comment and I can remind ya! We have an estimated 65 kids coming, so it should be some crazy fun! We still could use some more supplies, so if you haven't signed up or have any of this lying around your house and are willing to bring some please LEAVE a comment so I can plan accordingly!!! We still have a lot that we need for quiet books, and we are trying to entice people to work on them we are going to do a raffle. So we are looking for prizes. This week's playgroup is going to be watching the fish feeding show at the Silverton Casino. It is at 1:30, and the address is 3333 Blue Diamond Road. If you kids like fish it is pretty cool. Just for you own info this is the other times:

...interactive feeding shows are scheduled daily at 1:30pm, 4:30pm and 7:30pm. Also, don't miss the live mermaid swim! Mermaid swims are scheduled Thursday from 2:15pm - 8:45pm, Friday and Saturday from 2:15pm - 9:45pm and Sunday from 11:30am - 6:45pm.

Reagan really likes it. It is pretty short, but it is entertaining, and it's free :) If you are going to attend if you could leave a comment, b/c I don't want to go out there if no one is going to go!

Also we are planning a music class the first Wed. in Nov. and would like to know how many people think they would attend. We are trying to figure out where we should have it, so we need to know how many people will attend. Rachel Gubler is going to teach it so it will be great!!!!

Pumpkin Patch Again

OK so I just heard back from McKee Family Farm. So durning the month of October they are not open for free, b/c they have the pumpkin patch going on. So what they offer is 1 pumpkin, hay ride, pony ride, feeding the animals, and playing on thier playgroud for $10.00 per kid. They also have the family night ones for a family (7 or less) for $20.00. It includes everything and they have a fishing pond. I thought that people would probably want to do this as a family, seeing how it would be cheaper if you have more than 2 kids. So I will plan something else for this month, I just wanted to pass the info along to everyone. It was a pretty fun place last year, but we did go in May I think. I will try and plan it in the spring again so we can go for free!

Hello everyone!
I have had a handful of people asking me about dance/music classes. SOOOOOOO for those of you that are interested here is some info.

I am teaching at 2 very good new studios that are CLOSE to us!! (woot woot!) One is called Las Vegas School of Dance and Music. It has every possible class you could want to take. I am teaching a Jazz Class for 6-10, a preschool music class for 3-5, a song and dance class for 4-6 and 6-10. The school is on Durango and Flamingo.
The other place is called Hollywood Kids Academy. They are originally up north--but are opening a new location in Mountains Edge! (woot woot again!) They also will have a variety of classes-but focus more on "triple threat" (singing, dancing, acting). They do a musical every year. I believe this one is more affordable and gives you discounts for mulitple classes and multiple children. Right now they only offer classes on Fridays until they build up enough students.

Fall Playgroup Kick Off

Ok guys! We are going to do a kick off to the fall for playgroup Wednesday the 16th at 11:30. The location is going to be at Western Trails Park (where we had the Easter Egg hunt was). Hopefully it won't be too hot. The address is 7355 Rogers St.Las Vegas, NV . We are going to do a pot luck lunch play date; just bring your favorite dish. If you want to leave what you are going to bring that is great, if you aren't sure yet, no big deal either. If I could get a couple of people to volunteer to bring napkins, plates, utensils, and or cups that would be great.

Ok guys. I don't know if anyone is reading this, but this is going to be our last playgroup for the summer. I think that it slowly died a painful death this summer, but we are going to revive it for the fall!!!!

Hey guys! So I just got off the phone with Child's Play. Here is the deal it is 5.00 per child regardless of age. So even if you have a 6 month old you have to pay. I was hoping that they would have a cut off age of 1 or 2, but they didn't. So I wanted to know if you guys still wanted to go here, or if you want to switch to Pump It Up, since you don't have to pay for the little ones there with a paying child. Tell me your opinions ASAP and we will just do what the majority wants to do. I will post again tomorrow some time with a final decision. Thanks!

Just a reminder that I am opening the pool tomorrow- Friday, July 31st at 10:00 AM. For those of you who think that no one comes anymore and you're not sure you should come- then you should just come!! For those of you who don't know where it is, just take Eldorado, from Jones and go West, past the Elementary School, towards Rainbow until it dead-ends into the Peaks neighborhood. Ok guys, so I just got off the phone with the Child's Play place and they said that they offer a group rate of $5.00 per person if it's your first time. I just have to set it up about 1 week in advance. So I thought we will change this Wed. to the movie at Rave. If I can get 5 people who would want to do Child's Play then I will set it up. I just talked to Pump It Up and here are the details:

Everyone must wear socks.
$7.00 per kid Under 2 is free unless it is the only kid you bring.
If we have 6 kids or more we each get $1.o0 off.
Open gym is from 9:30-1.
No Food or Drink

I was thinking that we could meet at 10 and then people could play as long as they want. If that time doesn't work let me know.
So far I have Kara (1 kid) Lauren (3 kids?), and me (1 kid)

I (Kara) have a punch card that we can all use for $5 per kid. So, if you just want to bring $5 and meet me there, you can punch my card.

Also, if you need directions, cause it's a little tricky to find, just take Decatur to Russell, make a right, then make another right on Valley View and then left on Sunset. It's a purple building on the left. I will try to be there around 10:00.

4th Of July Party at Eckersley's

Jen Eckersley is having her annual 4th of July party again!!!! Last year was so much fun. They open their backyard and pool to everyone. It is an open house kind of thing from 9 in the morning untill fireworks in the evening. People come and go as needed, for example come swim in the morning go home for naps come back for cheesy fireworks in the evening. They provide hotdogs and hamburgers ALL DAY. Last year people just brought chips or a side and what ever fireworks they had purchased and we lit them off in the street. She even played patirotic music and passed out Red Vines. It was a blast. Come and play on the 4th. Call her if you have a question, even if you don't think she knows who you are, she does. 804-5379. It's not BYU fireworks, its better.

Christi is out of town, so I thought I'd just take the initiative to tell you all that there are free movies at Rave Motion Picture (at Town Square) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 AM. This Wed they are showing Kung Fu Panda and I think I'll be going. (The link to the summer schedule of free movies is on the right sidebar. They offer free family movies at Rave and Regal theaters all summer). The weather is not supposed to be the greatest and I'm not sure if anyone was planning on opening the pool at the Courtyards on Wed, so if any of you want to, join us for a movie. Hey guys! Laurel asked me to put together playgroup until they have someone called! First of a HUGE THANKS to Anjie for planning all the previous playgroups! They were awesome. We're going to miss you.
Now for the summer. In the past summers, we have mainly done swimming on Wed. and Fri. at the Courtyards. Every once in a while there has been a splash park thrown in. I wanted to know people's opinion's. It is pretty much too hot to do much of anything else, but I am up for ideas. What I originally thought was to do a swim rotation so not one person was in charge of opening up the pool every week. That too would give some variety to the venue. We could also throw a splash park or public pool in once a month or something too, if people liked them. I was thinking if we did every 2 or 3 weeks at a pool. Do you guys think that would get to confusing, or would you rather just stick to a designated pool? Tell me ALL your suggestions and preferences. I will put up a calendar regardless of what we decide. If you have a neighborhood pool, or a personal pool that you wouldn't mind opening up for playgroup let me know so I can figure it all out! Thanks guys!
