Week of August 25

Playgroup this week:

-Wednesday: 10:00 at the church building (in the gym most likely) We will be having an Art Day for the kids. Lots of random craft things, no set projects, just fun creative play. I will bring a lot of my supplies, but if you have something specific that you'd like to do, bring your own supplies to share. :) I will have to leave around 11:15 to pick up Em from school, but I will be back for cleaning up, so I'm sure there'll be people around whenever you can make it.

-Friday: 10:00 Swimming. I think there's been some confusion about what pool we are going to, so everyone reply with the pool you'd rather go to (Peaks or Courtyards) and I'll update this on Thursday. (There's people with keys at both)

Gymnastics anyone??

Did anyone else get the flier for the gymnastics place on Wigwam? Well I called and they are a little expensive. But they said they do the first 2 classes for free. It is 8 weeks once a week for $110. We probably wouldn't sign up for that much but I thought we might go check out the first 2 free classes. They have lots of different times. But they said they already have 2 kids going to the Wed at 10:00-10:45 so that would be a good one to go to. But they also have one at Monday at 10-10:45. So if anyone is interested in going to check it out let me know!!!! Oh this class is 22 months to 3 years. They have classes for kids 6 months to 18 years old too :)

9. A Person you look up to most? My mom- she raised 8 kids and is still sane with a professional career!
10. What is your favorite thing about yourself? That I do a lot of fun projects with my kids. I feel like that's what they'll remember the most when they're older.
11. What is your least favorite thing about yourself? My lack of OCD about having a clean home all of the time. It has it's moments, but I'd much rather be out playing with the kids than cleaning, and sometimes it shows. :)

13. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Today it would be a nice light blue...relaxed and calm.
14. Last person you talked to on the phone? Rick, to see when he'd be home from the cabin with Michael...I'm lonely for the boys.
15. When you were little - What did you want to do "when you grew up?" Are you doing it? I always said I wanted to be a mom, so yes, I'm doing it. I did want to be a teacher too, so although I'm not teaching right now, I have all of the licensing to do it eventually.

20. What Book Are You Reading? Twilight series...I caught on a little late, but I am almost done with Breaking Dawn now, after starting Twilight last weekend.

23. Favorite Sound? The "pause" of rain when you go under a bridge on the freeway when it's raining hard. I don't know why I love that so much...
24. What's the farthest you've been from home? Mazatlan, Mexico- for our honeymoon.
25. What is your favorite craft? I paint a lot for my business stuff, and I love that. I like doing little fun kid pictures vs. anything realistic. I never knew I was good at it until Michael was little, so it's been a fun talent to "find."

Swimming Week!

Hey girls! Both Wednesday and Friday will be swimming playgroups. I'll be at the Peaks south pool around 10!

We still need a few ideas for playgroups. I was thinking of Gilcrease Orchard, to pick some produce when it gets a little cooler (I think they actually do pumpkins closer to Halloween) BUT, it is on the FAR north side of town...how does everyone feel about driving that far? Should we just stick to this part of town? I think that was a reason for not so many people at the Discovery Museum, so let me know what you think.

P.S. Sorry about last Friday...I said I'd be there to open the pool, but I had a flat tire, and had the joy of going to the garage to get new tires instead of swimming.

Umm . . . .

Todd and I will be out of town this Sunday and therefore need a sub for Sr. Nursery. Since it is SENIOR, there are way fewer screaming children! The job comes with snacks too. So, can anyone sub for us?

Swimming Friday?

The Museum was really fun today. I hope that those who made it had a good time. :)

Anyway, I just wanted to post that I will be at the Peaks south pool from about 9:30-11 on Friday morning.

Dinner with the Girls

Some of us wanted to have another little impromptu girls night, so we are going to dinner tomorrow night (8/12) to BJ's on Charleston at 6:30pm. Come join us if you can!

Farewell to the Cranes

We are so sad that the Cranes are moving so we want to have a little pool party to say farewell. We will be getting together at the Peak's Pool (south pool - as long as it isn't too crowded) on Saturday night at 6pm for potluck dinner and swimming. Bring a favorite summertime potluck item to share and your suits!

*UPDATE* We will be doing it at the North Peak's Pool. (and yes Rachel we want your hamburgers and your BBQ, Thanks!)

Plug for Canning and Powdered Milk

Hey girls! Don't you love my catchy title?? I hate to use this blog for Enrichment, but I wanted to let you all know about an activity we have going on tomorrow night (Thurs). We will be canning powdered milk and learning what all you can do with it. There will be several demonstrations on using your powdered milk and samples of yummy things you can make using powdered milk. Sounds so exciting! Even if you didn't sign up to can your own milk, you can come help, and learn and get excited about doing your own food storage. So, hope to see you at the church, Thursday night at 6:30. Nursery will be provided (an even better reason to come)!

Lied Children's Museum, August 7th

Like I mentioned before, Kat and I are going to the Children's Museum tomorrow. We are meeting at the museum tomorrow morning (Thursday) at 10 a.m. (Sorry-we would wait for the playgroup but I might be out of town next week).

Playgroup on Wednesday

Hi girls. Sorry about not keeping updated on the blog and playgroup. I am really trying hard to keep up with everything in my life, but unfortunately, this is one that falls to the side. : )

Anyway, tomorrow we'll stick with playgroup at the Peaks pool for those of you who'd like to come over. I think both Kara and I will have keys to open it, so we'll be there around 9:30-10.

Also, I was going to plan a trip to the Lied Museum for next Wednesday's playgroup. I was going to announce this on Sunday, for those girls who don't check the blog. So if a few of you do go tomorrow, can you give us a rundown of the fun things for the little ones? (I know that they change their attractions every so often, so I'm not sure what's there right now.)

I am going to work on a calendar that we can stick with for August and September, so if you have any ideas other than swimming, let me know. I will try to plan something different every few weeks, but I know that there's a limited number of swimming days left of the summer before school starts, so we'll still stick with that for the majority.

Children's Museum

Katherine and I want to go to the Children's Museum this week and were thinking about doing it this Thursday (August 7th) around 10 a.m. We would love to have anyone join us that's interested. Let us know what you think . . .

And, Chels, I don't really know what's happening with playgroup but I'm glad you're back. After all, I'm pretty sure Sawyer is the most popular kid in the ward.

What's going on with playgroup now days? Are we swimming or movie or something else just as great?

Movie at Regal Theater on Sahara

Hey ladies, I just wanted to let you know that we're going to see one of the movies at the Village Square theater on Sahara and Ft. Apache tomorrow.  I've never tried this and it's almost over for the summer, so I'm going to check it out.  They're showing "Wallace and Gromit" and "Surf's Up".  I think I want to see Surf's Up.  I guess I'll try to be there between 9:30 and 9:45- it starts at 10:00 AM.  SEe ya there!
